History

Our Company was established in
1923 - unsurprisingly, by Messrs Whitby and Chandler.

Whitby and Chandler LTD Logo

Tom Chandler was involved in the business for a number of years and his family remained connected until the middle of the 1980’s. Tom Chandler was a forward-thinking and insightful businessman who developed product offerings to service existing customers and to help diversify into new markets - something that we continue to strive to do today.

Our constant desire to improve, develop and grow is still company policy. This started back in the 1960’s - as our order book grew we opened a larger production unit and increased our material stocks with the development of larger orders, increased stock and the opening of a larger production unit. Our purpose-built rubber moulding division was constructed at the turn of the 21st century and allowed for the expansion of that division as well as the addition of new plant such as injection moulding and extruding machinery to complement our steam and electric compression presses that continue to serve us so well.

Amorim, the world's largest manufacturer of cork-based materials, has enhanced our capabilities and allowed us to continually add a technical edge to what we do.

Alongside partnering with key suppliers, our position as an independent company allows us to offer gasket materials from all the major manufacturers as well as ancillary products such as spiral wound, metallic and cam profile gaskets, "O" Rings, sponge rubber cut parts and a comprehensive range of rubber sheeting.

Whitby & Chandler Ltd - offering a Seal of Quality across all our products and services.
